dnc schedule

The DNC schedule is a lot more precise. Times are included! I'm not really sure how much of this I'll get to see, but it looks like a busy week.

Monday- Will I be the only Nebraska Republican present?

7:00PM EDT
Biographical Messages on Senator Barack Obama

8:00PM EDT
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Journey for Change)
President Jimmy Carter
Senator Claire McCaskill
Mayor John Hickenlooper, Denver
Maya Soetoro-Ng Mya (Obama’s sister)

9:00 PM EDT
Senator Ted Kennedy Tribute - Video
Caroline Kennedy

10:00PM EDT
Republican for Obama
Craig Robinson introduces his sister Michelle Obama
Obama remote live into Convention

It seems like the Dems are doing what the Republicans are doing- getting rid of the liabilities first. Pelosi, Jimmy (fellow Braves fan!), and Ted Kennedy are the types you'll see in attack ads... get them out of the way first.

But more important is the mysterious "Republican for Obama" The only other positions that are unnamed are the VP spots. The question remains... will it be Chuck Hagel???

Tuesday- CAPS FOR EMPHASIS!

7:00PM EDT Economy – “Policy that got us where we are.”
Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, KS, convention co-chair, “GROWING THE ECONOMY”
Gov. Janet Napolitano, AZ, convention co-chair, “GROWING THE ECONOMY”

10:00PMEDT
Fmr. Gov. Mark Warner, VA. Keynote address
Senator Clinton Video
Clinton introduces her mother
Sen. Hillary Clinton, NY. “Headline Prime Time speaker”
Possible Obama remote live into convention

I'd provide analysis, but I think the CAPITALIZED words following each name do them justice. The end of the night should be awesome with a Gore-Hillary tandem ending the night. I think the Pepsi Center might explode from the egos- all reports say these two really don't like each other.

But the best part of the night might just be the 8:00 o'clock hour. It also could be a typo. I didn't doctor this- it's direct from the CNBC website:

8:00PM EDT
Women of the Senate
Sen. Chris Dodd, CT

Chris Dodd is the "Women of the Senate" I'm guessing it will be these women, but the way it's printed is funny.

Wednesday- Bill and the Veep

5:30PM EDT
Roll Call (6:30-7:30PM EDT Obama Named Nominee)

7:30PM EDT
Presentation of Women of the House
Mayor Richard Daly, Chicago

8:00PM EDT Strong National Security Theme
Foreign Policy
Energy

9:00PM EDT
Fmr. Sen. Tom Daschle, SD
Sen. Joe Biden, MD
Gov. Bill Richardson, NM
President Bill Clinton

10:00PM EDT
Video on Veterans –
Sen. Jim Webb, VA
Tammy Duckworth, IL Dept of Veterans Affairs
VP Candidate
Obama remote live into convention

Outside of Bill Clinton and the Vice President, this night seems fairly bland. My guess is Slick Willy was scheduled the same night as the Veep with the hope this as-yet unnamed person would overshadow Obama's nemesis.

The roll call vote will be neat. The latest I've heard is that Hillary's name will be put in to nomination, if only for ceremony. Ironically, Richard Daley is the first scheduled speaker after vote- the type of guy who brings any vote true integrity.

Thursday- The day our Glorious Leader is hailed

7:00PM EDT
Rep. John Lewis, GA introduces Martin Luther King Tribute Video and Martin Luther King III

8:00PM EDT
Musical Performance

9:55PM EDT
Sen. Dick Durbin, IL introduces Obama’s Video

10:00PM EDT
Obama Video
Obama Acceptance Speech (35 -40 minutes)
Fireworks
Barack, Michelle, VP, Mrs. VP all at podium

As will be said innumerable times, this is 45 years after Martin Luther King's I ahve a Dream speech.

The move to the outdoor Invesco Field is a gutsy, risky, and genious move. Three things have to happen to make it pay off:

1: All 70,000 seats have to be full
2: Obama's speech has to be great
3: It has to be nice weather

#1 is already done. #2 is very possible. #3 is up in the air- the forecast says it should be sunny on Thursday, though it says storms will hit Friday. Either way, it'll be a tough ticket to get.

Lastly, as the speech is at the Denver football stadium, will the Bronco Barrel Guy show up?

The picture of Jimmy Carter is fairly irrelevant... but I have to find as many ways as possible to plug my awful Braves as possible.
