Well, the day finally happened. So much happened I can't due it justice in the time I have to write or anyone wants to read. but I'll try and give you a synopsis.
The idea began last night. Once it became apparent that Obama would give his speech on a Greek Parthenon style stage, the powers-that-be at the McCain office decided to fuse the outlandish Greek theme with the celebrity theme.
So they haphazardly gave us sheets and told us to go downtown near the Pepsi Center. We made togas as quickly as possible and drove as quickly as possible towards the convention site. Well, little did we know Barack Obama was making a "surprise" stop that night, turning turning near gridlock in to pure gridlock. As Biden was nearing the end of his speech we were no where near the Pepsi Center, so we packed up and headed back to the office. (little did we know that in the time we were gone everyone had left and now the doors were locked.)
Fast forward to this morning. The plan was the same although we had a much more detailed itinerary. We headed down to a much more subdued Pepsi Center, with a specific high traffic intersection where we knew we would obtain media coverage. We were successful- scoring nods on FOX News, CNN.com, and numerous political websites. After dinner (you guessed it, at a Greek restaurant) we headed back for more of the same that night.
The night session was strong, but not as successful a the afternoon. By the time we had arrived most of the media was already inside and security was so tight we couldn't really get anywhere.
All in all, it was a fruitful day. The type of hard work College Republicans do best. I'll post pictures in the next day or two.
Off to bed then off to Omaha.
It's been a great week at the DNC. On to Minneapolis!
