Afterwards I wound up sitting in the back of the conference room. Probably 20 minutes following the press conference, once the room was almost completely empty Mitt Romney began doing interviews with local television stations in Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, followed by a remote appearance on Your World with Neal Cavuto. The most noticeable thing was the fact that every interviewer asked the same set of questions. There were probably a total of 100 questions asked, but only 10 or 12 different questions. While I sat watching Mitt speak, Rudy Giuliani walked right by me and in to a back office.
Following the completion of Romney’s interviews I went back upstairs to get back to work. A few moments later a manager walked up, looked at me, and gruffly said, “Rudy Giuliani wants some Diet Coke. Go get it.”
Being the yes man I am, I replied, “20 ounce bottles OK?”
Upon receiving my yes, I walked out of the compound and began a sprint to the Walgreens that was about half a mile away. By the time my lungs started burning, I realized that it would probably have been more time efficient to have someone that can drive a car drive to purchase the pop. But it was too late now. So I continued to move my fat white body as fast as possible.
I got three Diet Cokes and a Root Beer for me. I shoved them in to a bag and walked briskly back to the office. I was able to hand them to Rudy and had a brief conversation with the Mayor and he thanked me.
This totally beats the first week of school. ;-]
