battle of the ugly logos

Because I need filler for the web log and am attempting to learn how this whole internet thing works on the fly, I'm going to dissect the hideously ugly logos for each convention. (the last post taught me how to do links... this one is pictures!)

First is the DNC logo. Truly abhorrent. I get that they're going for the whole "mountain" theme, but this looks more like a bad postage stamp than anything. Additionally, the mountain looks more like a line graph than a rock formation. Lastly the "O" in "O8" appears to be much larger than the "8"

The DNC logo would be a symbol for stupidity if the RNC logo wasn't just as bad, if not worse.

Absolutely awful. Is this the 2008 Republican National Convention or the 1968 Nebraska Boy scout Camp-O-Rama? The outside circle featuring the name and location isn't too bad, even if it's rudimentary. The "elephant" inside said circle is pure crap. Is that the best we can do? A plain blue elephant with a star for an eye? What was the budget for this logo? Did they get a fourth grader with Microsoft Paint to make it?

There is one distinctive common thread between the laughable logos- white bars randomly inserted. The right side of the DNC logo has three white bars- as if three sections were cut out. While this normally would just classify an oddity, it rises to the level of conspiracy as the RNC "elephant" also has three white bars cut out of him? Could the fourth graders on Microsoft Paint hired to make these logos conspired for this devious trick? While on the ground on Denver and Minneapolis I'll attempt to dig deeper in to this controversy.

UPDATE: Final proof that I am computer illiterate- I spent about two hours attempting to teach myself html to insert links and images. Then I realized that blogger.com provides you with "Insert Link" and "Insert Image" buttons. Lovely.
